[OOC] Character Information
NAME: Lyndell Kahl
DOB: 11/14
AGE: 18
TYPE: Offensive Sensory Magi
Profile: Lyndell is a Human Magi who was saved from Earth by a retrieval team from the Galturian Alliance, a coalition of planets fighting against the Mozak Horde, an alien army of monsters and beasts lead by the mad scientist Magna Parr. Dr. Parr creates these monsters and sends them out to take over planets useful to him for mining special ores and crystals to further his experiments. Lyndell is a member of the Teal team, Magi sent back to Earth to search out other humans with magical aptitude like Lyndell. He’s an offensive sensory type, meaning someone whose aptitude is in offensive spells and also has the ability to sense out magical aptitude in others. He will do whatever he can to protect the humans he finds still surviving on Earth and to get the Mozak off his planet.
Appearance: 5’9”, slender, muscular build. Green eyes and dark green hair, that is shaggy down his neck. He keeps some of the sides pulled back into a short ponytail away from his face. He has several scars usually covered by his clothes, including a stab wound to on his left thigh and a long jagged scar down his back and curls over his right shoulder a bit. Typical style: He wears his black and white standard Alliance uniform, which is made of magical transference treated materials, thus is capable of not only withstanding some magical attacks, but can be enhanced with his own magic to transform into Magi Armor. When his magic is In Mode, he has golden streaks through his spiky hair and wears his Magi Armor of pale green, tan, and gold. His Magi Circle tattoo glows on his arm, spiraling from his palm to half way to his elbow.
Personality:
Lyndell is a quiet and thoughtful person, who throws himself wholeheartedly into whatever he’s working on. If he doesn’t care about it, he’s likely to slack off and not put much attention to it. But if he cares, he’s going to put everything into it. He’s very serious about ridding Earth of the Mozak Horde and protecting humans from them. He also cares very much about his family and fears losing people close to him after his mother was taken from him by the Horde. He’s protective of the weak and helpless and doesn’t want anyone to go through what he and his family have. They may not have the luck he did in Magical Aptitude, but they deserve protection and to live their lives peacefully. And he’ll do anything he can to ensure that. He doesn’t necessarily agree with the way that the Alliance treats planets with people with minimal magical aptitude as they put them at a lower priority due to their inability to participate in their own liberation, because he thinks these are the planets that need them the most.
He doesn’t show a lot of emotions, but that doesn’t mean he’s not feeling them. He’s one of those “falling apart won’t help, so keep going until you’re dead” types. He has a lot of feelings, but he doesn’t demonstrate them. Because of this, people either think that he’s too intense or doesn’t care at all, when really it’s neither. He can get intense in the heat of a fight, but usually he tries to maintain a sense of calm, to not let himself get too worked up, because as an Offensive Magi, the angrier he gets, the less control of his magic that he has because his energy will build up in strength, but of course, control goes down.
Lyndell is a very blunt person, to the point that some people are put off by his lack of care about whether what he says will be considered polite or not. He believes what he believes and thinks that all opinions deserve to be heard. Of course, this led to him getting into trouble more than once when he initially started his Magi training and he also was dismissed from the program because of insubordination and he had to make himself cut back on his outspoken ways. He has learned to keep those opinions to himself in order to work better with others, but sometimes he still slips up and says things that people really don’t like. To the point that said people get offended. He doesn’t care. If you’re offended, then maybe what he said hit close to home and you should think about it instead of dismissing it due to your hurt feelings. Yeah, he’s learned to not always say exactly what is on his mind, but he’s thinking it. Oh is he thinking it.
He also has a bit of a temper. It takes a long time for it to blow, but when it does, he can be reckless and does not always think things through. He works hard to keep his temper under control, but when it's set off he's too angry to care. As this effects the control he has over his magic, it's important to him that he doesn't give in, but shit happens.
He used to believe that all Mozak were monsters and the only good Mozak was a dead one, because then they weren’t capable of harming others and they were no longer suffering as horrific abominations that were created by another monster. Then he met Taizak. Taizak isn’t a bloodthirsty monster, nor is he a mindless killing machine. Meeting Taizak and spending a month trapped on Elyzar with him changed his perspective a lot. He still sees most Mozak as too dangerous to leave alive, but he’s come to see that the Elites are different. They can have thoughts and feelings and make choices. They might feel compelled to do what Dr Parr demands of them because he is their master and has some control over them, but they don’t have to agree with everything he says or they are expected to do. It’s affected how he fights against the Mozak because he wonders now when he looks at them if any of the others might also have the ability to be like Taizak.
Backstory:
Abilities: Lyndell is an Offensive Sensory Magi. Magi magic worked by focusing magical energy in the body and using it to perform spells, which can be offensive, defensive, or passive in nature. When a Magi learns to focus their energy, a Circle forms around them that then imprints on their body. Lyndell’s circle imprinted on his hand and up his arm in a spiral up to his elbow. He can use spells and magic, but also has the ability to send out his own energy like radar and wait for it to ping back from others with high magical energy. This allows him to locate other humans with magical aptitude so they can be recruited by the Alliance. He can feel out exactly which direction and how close the person is by doing this. When on Earth his magical energy is even stronger than it is when he’s off planet because he can access energy from the planet itself.
The types of spells he’s strongest in are precision and long range attacks, enhancing his physical strength and speed. He can use basic passive magic, like creating barriers, and he has some slight skill in healing magic, but it’s not really where his strengths are and it drains more of his magic to do it. Barriers he makes won’t last very long under pressure. He is also skilled in field first aid, having spent years learning under his father and then taking additional lessons with the Alliance on first aid for non-Earthling species.
His Alliance Uniform is made of a specially treated material that allows it to transform into his Magi Armor when he is In Mode, which is green, tan, and gold. This armor protects him from the offensive attacks of others, allows him some protection when traveling in space (he can breathe in space while In Mode), and cannot be used by anyone else since it’s been specially treated with his own magic. His Wand (which is basically a staff), turns into a bow and magical arrows that he can use for enhancing his magical ranged attacks.

Backstory:
- Mozak Horde invaded Earth 30 years before Lyndell Kahl was born. They seek special ore and other materials to use in their war against the Galturian Alliance. Earth is seen as a stronghold between the two factions.
- Some humans escaped as refugees during the invasion with the Alliance.
- Every few years extraction teams are sent back to Earth to look for humans with Magical Aptitude. Magical energies are special to each planet’s inhabitants, so only Earthlings or those descendant from Earthlings have energy particular to Earth. Some other planets may have magical energy that is compatible to Earth’s energy signature, but it’s rare. It’s like having a planetary magical fingerprint.
- Lyndell Kahl has been surviving in one of the few human settlements not completely taken over by the Horde. His father, Mardell, was crippled trying to save people during one of the attacks, as he’s a doctor. Lyn helps him with his work as he still insists on providing medical aid to the people living in the nearby worker settlements. He has a prosthetic leg, but it’s very remedial in design and wearing it for too long leaves him very sore.
- His mother, Launa, was taken by the Mozak Horde when he was seven. His little sister, Lanie (short for Melanie), is four years younger than him. He was injured during the attack when it mother was taken and his father is the only reason he survived.
- During a supply run when he’s 13, he’s runs into a group of scouts sent by the Alliance during their extract and rescue missions. The Sensor on the team recognizes his Magical Aptitude and tries to convince him to go through a portal and thus escape from Earth to the Alliance headquarters, but he refuses to leave his family.
- Soldiers from the Mozak Horde come upon the group and attack.
- One of the Magi is injured and Lyndell picks up their weapon and uses it to fire at the monsters, killing one of them. When all of the Mozak are defeated, Lyn directs the group to his family’s clinic so his father can help the boy who had been injured, Arlon.
- The leader of the extraction team, Lieutenant Emery, explains to him what the Galturian Alliance is and how Magi fit into their fight against the Horde and their leader Dr. Parr.
- The Galturian Alliance is a coalition of planets that have come together to fight against the Horde. Magi are those with Magical Aptitude who train to use their magic and fight back against the Horde. All planets have a special unique magical signature to them and the beings that live on them. Not all planets have people who are capable of accessing that magical energy inside of them and others have the potential, but none of the training. Hence Magical Aptitude.
- It is uncommon for purebred humans to have Magical Aptitude as most humans are incapable of access their magical energy themselves. Rare but not unheard of.
- Lyndell agrees to travel to Alliance headquarters on planet Vavallan to train to be a Magi, but only if his family comes with him. Emergy agrees to this.
- Lyndell trains on Vavallan for years and discovers he is an offensive sensory type. He can use offensive attacks, but he also has the ability to use his magic to locate others with Magical Aptitude.
- He’s assigned to return to Earth because of this, as not only are Earth Magic most effective against the Mozak on Earth, but he can help them find more Earthlings with Magical Aptitude.
- Sending Magi back to their home planets to fight against the Mozak on their planet is one of the primary strategies the Alliance uses, as they can access the magical energy of their home planet to be more effective and use more powerful attacks.
- When Lyndell is 18, he has a run in with a lone Mozak on a solo mission on another, much harsher and more dangerous planet, and realizes this isn’t one of the lower rank Mozak. This is one of the Elites. A Mozak that is not only powerful but also sentient. They look more humanoid that the lower ranking more monstrous Mozak.
- The planet has a very protective magical barrier that prevents them from using magic to leave and Lyndell and the Mozak end up having to work together to survive some of the more dangerous magical creatures on the planet. He even tells him his name is Taizak. They spend a month trapped together on the planet until the lunar eclipse that weakens the magical barrier around the planet.
- When the Mozak finally come to collect their brethren, the Mozak doesn’t tell them about Lyndell and leaves him hidden, when really they should have captured or killed him.
- Lyndell runs into Taizak again, on Earth, and when they are separated from their teams they speak to each other instead of fighting. This will be the first of several secret meetings between them.
- Lyndell finds out from Taizak that Mozak are not “born” they are “made” and he doesn’t understand what this all means yet.
- During another mission Lyndell’s unit, called Teal Team, finds a set of young twin girls with magical aptitude in a secret settlement and are preparing to extract them when Mozak attack and they realize they somehow tracked their team to the settlement. They fight back against the large group of monsters, and Lyndell sees that Taizak is one of the Elites in charge of the group.
- Lyndell steps in front of a group of humans a mozak fires an energy bomb at, but he’s more offensive than defensive, so his barrier isn’t that great and breaks. Taizak suddenly steps in to take the brunt of the explosion, saving Lyndell and the humans.
- Lyndell responds to this by using his magic, but not in the same way as he normally does. He wants to protect and to heal, to make sure Taizak survives and the waves of magic also end up hitting the nearby Mozak and instead of it being destroyed, it’s purified.
- The Mozak seems to show a sense of confusion and sentience it hadn’t before, but is immediately destroyed by another member of Lyndell’s team. He doesn’t know what happened.
- Lyndell’s commanding officer, Lieutenant Jax, orders Taizak to be taken in for questioning, so he’s chained and taken to Vavallan where he is detained with the Isolation and Containment Unit until they finish interrogating him and then send him off to the Deconstruction Compound, where captured Mozaks are destroyed.
- Lyndell wants to know what happened to the Mozak, but no one seems willing to answer his questions. Something else is happening that he is being kept out of.
- He decides to break Taizak out of the ICU.
